Paul Azinger made a bold call about Louis Oosthuizen on Sunday, and Twitter ripped it apart

NBC broadcasters have a tough job this week. Stuck in a studio in Stamford, Conn., rather than on site at Royal St. George’s in Sandwich, England, the announcing crew has done a decent job calling the 2021 Open Championship considering the circumstances.

Take a scroll through social media, though, and you might arrive at a different conclusion. That was particularly true after Louis Oosthuizen, the 54-hole leader at The Open, made his way to the first tee on Sunday. Oosthuizen’s close calls at major championships are well-documented, particularly this year when the South African has finished T-2 at the PGA and the U.S. Open. Azinger made a comment that this might be the 38-year-old’s last real chance at a major . . . and, well, Twitter did not like that comment.

Earlier, Azinger also called Corey Conners a "wonderful putter," which merited a response considering putting is actually the weakest part of the Canadian's game. He ranks 105th on the PGA Tour this season in strokes gained/putting. And then he missed a two-footer for par at the first hole . . .
