Because it's fun to see pros try to qualify for it.

And because even the greats dream of winning one.

Because the trophy is beautiful.

Because of the heavy rough you don't see anywhere else.

Combined with the firm, glass-like greens that are unique to the U.S. Open.

Because it makes you feel good to see that even the pros struggle to make par sometimes.

And because the courses always seem perfectly suited to the event.

Because it always overlaps with Father's Day.

Because it gives you an excuse to re-watch some of the more memorable U.S. Opens.

And it's nice to see the crowd a little more rambunctious after the Masters.

Because it's fun to see the amateurs make names for themselves by playing well on the toughest setups.

Because it gives you another excuse to watch the movie "Tin Cup".
