Joey Chestnut devours 47 pierogies during halftime of Cavs-Lakers, remains the most dominant athletic force on earth

December 07, 2022

Joey Chestnut is the LeBron James of competitive eating. Well, actually the Michael Jordan of competitive eating, but when in Cleveland amirite? On Tuesday, Chestnut provided the halftime entertainment at Cavs-Lakers—James' twice former team vs. his current squad—crushing 47 plump, delicious pierogies in 120 seconds like he was putting down a bag of airline peanuts. Feast your eyes on greatness.

Most of us know Chestnut from his dominance in the hot-dog arena, but he has also showcased his prowess with Big Macs, Hooters wings, and plenty of other greasy gobble-ables over the years. You can now add the delicious Polish dumplings to the list, as Chestnut devoured 14 more than all of his other competitors combined. That’s a runaway, folks.

Inspired by Chestnut’s dominance, the Cavs' Donovan Mitchell also went off, hanging 46 points on LeBron and co. as Cleveland scored 31 in the fourth-quarter to send the Lakers packing. The Lakeshow now heads north of the border to face Toronto on the second night of a back-to-back. No word yet on Chestnut’s status for that one, but if they’re having a poutine eating contest, you better believe he’ll be there.
