FINDING FOCUSAfter you win a couple times, it's hard not to think ahead and say, "Now I'm going to make my move on tour." You start chasing stuff and trying harder. But this is my 10th year on tour. I try to focus my attention on my family first. Still, I can't help but think about where I was toward the end of last season, fighting for my card, fighting to play well and finding joy in that process, too. After these two wins, I'm just thankful. I'm overwhelmed and I'm grateful.
FEELING THE FLOWI kind of rode the momentum from last year during the off-season and it carried over to Hawaii. I worked hard, but I didn't change anything. I have the same swing thought and routine.VIDEO MOTIVATIONI did watch a YouTube video of my hole-in-one in Las Vegas [to win in a playoff]. It was so dark I never saw it go in the hole. I framed the ball and the 6-iron.
NO GLOVEI don't wear a glove, so I'm going to carry just this one and see if I can get through the whole year with it.
BALL CHANGEI changed to the 2009 Titleist Pro V1 from the Pro V1x this year. One of my goals is to improve my wedge game. I mark my ball with an orange dot (for Clemson). I save the 1s for Sundays.
GOOD TIMINGMy ace to win in Las Vegas was good timing, but it brought my wife and me some more good timing. Tournament host Justin Timberlake gave us Audemars Piguet 57th Street Limited Edition watches. They're very, very nice.
BASIC NECESSITIESI use this Swingyde and a few other training aids, as well as some shafts for alignment when I'm on the range. Almost as vital are the peanut-butter-and-banana sandwiches my wife makes for me.
MY INSPIRATIONMy wife gave me this pouch for valuables and photos of our kids: Caroline, 2, and Jackson, 4. I also carry a devotional book that Ben Crane made for me.
DRIVERMy driver is a TaylorMade Burner SuperFast TP (10.5 degrees, UST Mamiya Proforce V2, X-flex). All my grips are Golf Pride Tour Velvet Cord 60.
FAIRWAY WOODMy 3-wood is a Mizuno MX-700 (15 degrees, UST Mamiya Proforce V2, X-flex). My driver is D-3 swingweight, but my 3-wood and hybrid are D-5.
HYBRIDI added this Mizuno 17-degree CLK hybrid (UST Mamiya Proforce V2 Hybrid, X-flex) to my bag two years ago. It really helps on shots from the rough.
WEDGESMy sand and lob wedges are Mizuno MP T-11s (56 and 60 degrees, True Temper Dynamic Gold Spinner). I put lead tape on my pitching, sand and lob wedges to weigh D-6.
IRONSI've played Mizuno MP-62s for the last three years (True Temper Dynamic Gold X100), but my 3-iron is an easier-to-hit Mizuno MP Fli-Hi. Since I started working with Mike Bender, I've changed my lie angles because my swing has gotten flatter.
PUTTERI changed to this Scotty Cameron by Titleist Studio Select Newport before the Fall Finish last year.
