Getcha Popcorn Ready

Popcorn week rolls on as MLB-on-Fox broadcast skewers A-Rod for infamous Cameron Diaz snacking video

October 08, 2021

On Thursday, we showed you a treasure trove of unpopped corn kernels, the result of Ole Miss fans sending Lane Kiffin snacks all week following his now-legendary “getcha popcorn ready” before last Saturday’s loss to Alabama. We called it a “banner week” for Big Popcorn, but little did we know it would get even better ...

Cooler than Cool Ranch, baby. Midway through the third-inning of the Tampa Bay Rays’ 5-0 shutout of the Boston Red Sox in Game 1 of the ALDS, Nelson Cruz said he wanted some popcorn and, next thing you know, half the Rays dugout was chowing down, including the star of the night Randy Arozarena, who sat at the top of stairs popping that corn, making it abundantly clear just how little the Sox scare them.

That isn’t the end of the story, however. Not even close. Seeing an opening for a few mildly mean-spirited laughs, Fox producers unearthed this long-lost viral video of Cameron Diaz hand-feeding A-Rod popcorn during Super Bowl XLV. Then they ran it on live on-air with A-Rod at the desk as Big Papi and The Big Hurt cackled like little school girls. It was glorious television.

A-Rod reportedly went “ballistic” when the footage aired during the original Super Bowl broadcast back in 2011, but he handled it much better on Thursday night, looking at the camera and saying, “KB, that’s maybe why I’m single.”

Probably not, Alex, but we'll let you have this one.
