Cold As Ice

We are pleased to report that De’Coldest Crawford’s NIL air conditioner commercial is everything you dreamed it would be

August 16, 2022

Last week, we introduced you to the 2022 College Football All-Name Team, an all-American roster of the best-named college football players in the nation. At starting wide receiver was a young man by the name De’Coldest (“ToEvaDoIt”) Crawford. We covered De’Coldest before, back when he was a young LSU cub, but he’s since taken his talents to Lincoln. There, for obvious reasons, he signed an NIL deal with SOS Heating & Cooling, an Omaha-based air conditioning company that will be helping to keep Cornhusker fans cool, calm, and collected (OK, maybe just cool) throughout another tough fall.

The potential for the merger was off the charts, but like most transfer portal moves, it was just that: potential. We are pleased to report, however, that De’Coldest Crawford’s big local commercial debut is here and it’s everything you hoped and dreamed it would be.

We’ve seen a few doozies since the NIL Kool-Aid manned (literally) its way into college sports last summer, but this might be the best yet. From the advanced computer graphics, which make Crawford appear as if he's being encased in ice, to the De’Coldest word play throughout, this raises the bar for the entire NIL game to follow. In fact, the only way it could get any better is if they somehow got head coach Scott Frost (Frost! Get it?) in on the action as well.

Meanwhile, if you’re die-hard Nebraska fan—if you bleed corn chowder and cry creamed corn—grab this moment with both hands and never let go. Savor every second you have in its sweet embrace, because it's all downhill from here.
