Baton Rouge sportscaster destroys Trevor Lawrence with hilarious engagement “congratulations”
It was a big week for Trevor Lawrence. Amidst broader college football upheaval and legitimate questions about if Lawrence should play even if there is a season, the Clemson quarterback and presumptive number-one-overall pick was focused on more important things, namely his engagement to girlfriend Madison Williams. Spoiler alert: She said yes, and everyone lived happily ever after!
Or at least mostly happily ever after thanks to Baton Rouge sportscaster Matt Trent, who used the engagement as an opportunity to twist the National Championship knife in Lawrence’s thigh with perhaps the single greatest troll job of 2020 thus far. LSU fans, put your feet up, crack a beer and put this one repeat.
“We end tonight with Trevor Lawrence once again giving away a championship ring on a football field,” begins Trent, immediately signaling to everyone that this isn’t your typical congratulations. “Joe Burrow, not available for comment, but don’t worry, Trevor, daddy is proud of you. Geaux Tigers. We’re back after this.”
Daddy is proud of you. Iconic, Matt. Just iconic.
We’re sure it won’t bother Lawrence any. The guy already has his National Championship ring, just got engaged and has a juicy NFL contract coming down the pike. But still, the scoreboard don’t lie, and this one is a blowout for Matt.
