Sports Twitter celebrated Max Homa’s Wells Fargo Championship win like it was a major

May 09, 2022

Max Homa is fast becoming a star. Homa was primed to explode if his golf game ever caught up to his Twitter game, and on Sunday it finally did when the internet funny man claimed his fourth PGA Tour title at the Wells Fargo Championship. “A champion on the rise …” crooned Jim Nantz as Homa rolled in his clinching putt, and his words proved prophetic as personalities from all across sports Twitter took to their phones to congratulate Homa for his career grand slam.

OK, just kidding about the career grand slam part, but Rodgers was far from the only blue check mark in Homa’s mentions on Sunday. He had e-sports stars …

… documentary/podcaster dudes

… Barstool bros …

… current and former ESPN heads …

…and even had the San Diego State University basketball retweeting himself for some reason …

All of this for the Wells Fargo Championship. That’s a testament to Max's magic at the moment. Outside the ropes, he's the kind of guy everyone likes and you'd be jealous of that if you didn't like him too. Inside them, he's won twice and posted four top 10s so far this season, climbing to 29th in the world along the way. Oh, and he’ll soon be a father. If this isn't the eye of Hurricane Homa, we are awful darn close. He's now just a big major weekend away from all the Michelob Ultra and Rocket Mortgage commercials he could ever want Max-imum saturation, if you will. So look out Southern Hills. Homa is coming and he’ll have his phone on.
