Someone made a LIV/One Tree Hill mashup and every millennial is cringing and laughing at the same time

January 19, 2023

The biggest news in golf over the past few days has been LIV Golf's agreement with the CW Network to show LIV events on its channel and app in 2023. Yes, the upstart golf league will finally have airtime on linear TV, so that golf fans don't have to search on YouTube or Facebook to watch it.

Of course, the CW Network isn't necessarily a channel that the typical golf demographic is used to flipping to. In fact, we'd bet most golf fans couldn't name a single show on the TV network.

Well, except when it comes to millennial golf fans. Most of us, back in the early 2000s, were captured by—or if you had a girlfriend, you were forced to hear about—the show "One Tree Hill." It was kind of your typical teenage drama show—but it was one of the first of its kind, so it really took off. Even if you're aged 25-40 now and you didn't watch it, surely the theme music featuring the song "I Don't Want To Be" by Gavin DeGraw is instantly recognizable.

That's why when the below video was shared on social media on Thursday by the Instagram account Ziregolf, most millennials probably saw it and got a good laugh.

Someone has a lot of time on their hands to capture appropriate clips of LIV players like Dustin Johnson and Cameron Smith that timed out and cut appropriately with the theme song. But we are really thankful for whoever made this video ... it's the perfectly odd but appropriate video for golf in 2023.
