Jack Nicklaus wished Tom Brady a happy retirement … and took a little shot at Michigan in the process

February 02, 2022

By now you’ve probably heard the news, heard the news redacted, and then heard the news again straight from the horse’s mouth: Tom Brady is retired. The greatest NFL career of all time—hell, possibly the greatest sports career of all time—is done, dusted, kaput. As you can probably imagine, the tributes from around American athletics were verbose, but only one GOAT chimed in to wish his GOAT competition well, and that GOAT is Jack Nicklaus.

Good stuff from The Golden Bear. There hasn’t been a peep from Jordan or Bonds or Gretzky, but kudos to Nicklaus for giving credit where credit is clearly due. We especially like the little jab at Brady’s Michigan Man status, a little counter-clockwise twist of the same knife Brady jabbed in OSU’s back earlier this week.

Obviously Tommy gets the better of this battle, but if the headlines on Wednesday morning (to say nothing of the last twenty years) are any indication, Jack’s Buckeyes may yet win the war.

Brady to Ann Arbor? You heard it here first …
