Very Philly

Eagles fans celebrate Super Bowl berth by falling through bus stop, Philly remains Philly

January 30, 2023

There was never a doubt that if the Eagles beat the 49ers to advance to Super Bowl LVII, things would get chaotic in Philly. With the game over seemingly by halftime, the Philadelphia faithful had a lot of time to plan (or more fittingly, not plan) the raucous celebrations to come.

As always, there were locals climbing greased-up poles. Almost a tradition at this point.

And there was street surfing in a newfangled way that seems fun as hell and destined to break every bone in your body.

Perhaps the newest addition to the jamboree, however, was the Philly faithful climbing onto the top of a SEPTA bus stop. It went as well as you might expect.

There were “injuries reported,” but it does seem like everyone is alright, most likely recovering with a beer and a cheesesteak this morning to stave off the hangover.

We also want to point out one fan who stayed upright but lost his glasses in the collapse. Hopefully, he gets new spectacles in time to watch the big game. He may not want to climb back up on a bus stop if the Eagles win it all, but who knows? Philly gonna Philly.
