Design: The Ultimate Golf Room
If you love golf, you'll love this room. On the bottom floor of the Golf Digest/Golf For Women Signature Home at Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Ga. (see more room by room pictures), we dreamed up the ultimate golfer's living space. The 1,500-square-foot room has everything from a putting green to a video-golf simulator. The five-bedroom, 9,000-square-foot house overlooks Lake Oconee and is listed for nearly $5 million furnished. It's open for tours until Thanksgiving. If you love golf, you'll love this room. Next to the wet bar ($50,000, Fulson Design Group) is the 280-square-foot putting green built by SofTrak ($6,500). A fireplace across the room makes for a good place to read your favorite golf book on a rainy day.
The video-golf game simulator ($30,000, DeadSolid Golf) allows you to play 18 holes or work on your swing, and a sensor unit in the floor tells you how fast you're swinging the driver. Around the corner from the simulator is a gym ($12,500, various companies) with recumbent bike, treadmill, stretching cage (pictured) and various smaller pieces of equipment. Next to the gym is a sauna ($7,000) and shower.
The humidor/wine storage area ($35,000, Wine Design) has climate control for vintage Bordeaux and humidity-craving cigars.
Just a few steps outside the Ultimate Golf Room is a 1,000-square-foot artificial putting green ($15,000, SofTrak). Not pictured: a home theater system ($34,700) with 60-inch plasma TV ($9,000, NEC).
