Jerry Barber achieved a powerful position at the top of his backswing by limiting his weight shift.
Barber uses a 3-iron to demonstrate his method. Barber's approach: "In teaching or playing, I have to disagree with the moving of the weight onto the right foot during the backswing."
Barber emphasized the top of the swing's importance. "In order to get into the best position at the top of the backswing you must not fool around with footwork," he said.
Barber points out, "If you want to get more out of your shots, you must be in position at the top to hit the ball as hard or as easy as you want."
