You won't believe the eBay bidding war started by an NFL player's torn off dreadlock

September 30, 2017

The Atlanta Falcons won in strange fashion last weekend when a last-second touchdown by Detroit's Golden Tate was overturned. Even stranger, though, is the eBay bidding war that stemmed from one Falcons player leaving something behind on the field. A piece of himself, in fact.

Earlier this week, an eBay user claiming to work at Detroit's Ford Field put a dreadlock that came from Falcons defensive end Takkarist McKinley up for auction. And on Friday, the NFL rookie acknowledged the hair was from his head.

Great response. Then Takkarist provided updates of the auction, growing more and more incredulous with each escalating bid:

The bids got even higher before eBay took the item off its website.

Eleven thousand dollars for a dreadlock?! If Takkarist ever happens to be strapped for cash, he now knows a good way to raise money quickly.
