Watch Tiger Woods hit rare driver off the deck during sizzling front nine at TPC Boston

August 23, 2020

Tiger Woods was absolutley feeling it during his front nine on Sunday at the Northern Trust. A scorecard filled with cirles told us that, but even more so, the rare shot Tiger attempted on No. 7.

Still faced with 293 yards after a 300-yard drive in the fairway on the second par 5 at TPC Boston, Woods went with the big stick again. Yep, the ol driver off the deck. And he pulled it off pretty well.

Watch as Woods whacks one up to the greenside bunker—and more importantly, doesn't injure himself with the aggressive play:

Seriously, don't try that at home.

From there, Woods got up and down for his fifth birdie in his first seven holes. He bogeyed No. 8, but bounced back with another birdie for a five-under-par 31 on the front nine as he tries to climb the leader board and the FedEx Cup standings ahead of next week's second playoff event, the BMW Championship.

UPDATE: Woods' back nine was a little less exciting as he parred every hole. The five-under-par 66 is his low round of the year, but he'll still need a big week at Olympia Fields to advance to the Tour Championship.
