Rich Beem had a priceless reaction to being delivered a couple birthday beers during his senior tour debut

August 25, 2020

While Phil Mickelson waited a couple months to make his PGA Tour Champions debut, Rich Beem didn't waste any time. The 2002 PGA champ turned the big five-oh on Monday and teed it up on the senior circuit for the first time that very day. And from the looks of it, he's already having a ball.

What's not to like? What fellow rookie Tim Herron has dubbed "The Promised Land," the PGA Tour Champions provides, easier competition, generous purses, no cuts, and golf carts. Oh, and apparently, beer. Well, at least for the birthday boy.

Watch as Beem was delivered a couple cold ones during his opening round at Ozarks National. And listen to his priceless reaction:

"It's only two?" Beem says with a laugh. "It's not going to be enough."

As we recently explored in an episode of our Local Knowledge podcast, alcohol can have a positive effect on your game. But unfortunately for Beem, the booze didn't help much on the scorecard as he opened with a one-over-par 72.

In any event, considering all the red wine that seems to flow on the senior circuit, the Beemer looks like he's going to fit in with the old guys just fine.
