Notre Dame baseball celebrated their upset of top-ranked Tennessee by belting out “Rocky Top” in a Knoxville bar

On Sunday, Notre Dame delivered the upset of the college baseball season, taking down the flamethrowin’, finger-flippin’ top-ranked Tennessee Volunteers in Game 3 of the Super Regionals to advance to their first College World Series in twenty years. Cue the scenes …

But if that was the moving nuptials, the reception rager came a short while later as the Fighting Irish hit the town in Knoxville to celebrate. Their brave journey behind enemy lines eventually took them to Clancy’s Tavern and Whiskey House, where the team could be heard belting out a rousing rendition of “Rocky Top” right there in front of the Tennessee faithful. Bold move, Cotton.

Needless to say, that takes some seriously juiced balls. Volunteers fans aren’t exactly famous for their thick skin—Lane Kiffin was reportedly asked to wear a bulletproof vest when returning to Neyland Stadium as a member of the Alabama staff in 2014—and this could have gone sideways in a hurry. Thankfully the South Bend choir boys got out of dodge before things got too ugly, and now they head to Omaha looking for another orange scalp in Texas. If they somehow manage to pull that one off, expect horns-down galore at the after-party.
