The Cricket

Min Woo Lee attends “the cricket” with fellow DP World Tour winner, admits the English beers hit different

This may come as a surprise seeing as Min Woo Lee is a native Australian, but before Thursday he had never attended “the cricket” (proper terminology). Sure, the Aussies are the second best team on the planet in the Men’s Test Team rankings, and yes, they seem to whip England in The Ashes—a month-long cricket series between the two nations held once every couple of years—more often than not, but apparently Lee missed the cricket train.

Until Thursday that is, when he finally caved, attending the third test of this year’s Ashes at Headingly Cricket Ground in Yorkshire. There he enjoyed a pint (again, proper terminology) with fellow DP World Tour winner and longtime drinking buddy Daniel Hillier. Cheers, lads.

Looks like a pretty good way to spend a summer afternoon to us. That said, Lee initially struggled to track the bowlers (read: pitchers), who can sometimes bowl in excess of 90 mph. Lee is no stranger to high ball speeds himself, so that should tell you something about the velocity on display.

But we soon learned it wasn’t the Aussie bowlers who were deceiving Lee, it was those pesky English pints.

Apparently the beers hit different in the Northern Hemisphere. The good news is that Lee has all weekend to nurse the hangover before the Scottish Open, a tournament he won back in 2021. Who knows, by then Australia may have even wrapped up The Ashes.
