Memorial Tournament 2020 odds: Tiger Woods surprisingly not one of the top favorites in his return

We’ll get a look at Tiger Woods competing in a PGA Tour event for the first time in 151 days, just over five months since his start at the Genesis Invitational. Sure, we saw him in May at the The Match, but Tiger’s playing his first event since the tour’s return after COVID-19. Interestingly, oddsmakers don’t seem to be so confident in Tiger Woods, opening him at 25-1, as 10 other players have the same or better odds than Tiger.

The electric final grouping from last week at Muirfield Village, Justin Thomas (12-1), Collin Morikawa (22-1), and Viktor Hovland (25-1) are all back for round two, and they will be joined by top players who didn't play in the Workday Charity Open, such as Bryson DeChambeau, the tournament favorite at 10-1, Rory McIlroy (14-1) and Dustin Johnson (17-1). With nine of the top 10 players in the world playing, the Memorial Tournament certainly has a major-esque feel this year.

Scoring has been stronger in the tour’s return and Morikawa and JT finished at 19-under, a higher than usual number than what we’re used to seeing at Muirfield Village. The course is expected to play a little tougher this week, as tournament officials will be letting the rough grow, using new tee boxes on a number of holes and experimenting with some more challenging pin positions. Yet as the odds board displays, we can still expect Muirfield Village, the site of five victories for Tiger at the Memorial, to project as a ball-striker’s paradise.
