Jerry Jones dropped an all-time Jerry Jones quote about the Cowboys’ activity at the trade deadline
Despite his billions of dollars, armada of yachts, fleet of helicopters, and the millions of Texans he has wrapped around his little finger like a Super Bowl ring, Jerry Jones, deep down inside where it counts the most, is still just a good ol’ boy. You might not be able to tell it by looking at him, but every time the Cowboys patriarch opens his mouth, that syrupy southern drawl just a-drippin’ on out, it becomes immediately and abundantly obvious.
That will forever be the most Jerry Jones quote in the Jerry Jones quote canon, but on Tuesday he delivered a close runner-up when asked about the Cowboys' trade deadline activity—or potential lack thereof—on 105.3 The Fan. Here’s what he had to say.
Remember that, kids. No matter where you are or what you’re doing, you always gotta be ready to hit that caboose when the opportunity presents itself. Wise words from a wise man.
Despite Jerry’s love of grabbing a good caboose with both hands and making the most of it, he did say that there’s a “better chance of nothing happening than happening.” But don’t worry, Cowboys fans. Jones also said the Cowboys had some things “mildewing around” as of Tuesday afternoon. We’re not sure what that means—are their offers getting stale? Did he just mispronounce “matriculating”?—but any dew is better than no dew … we think.
