Ja Morant just wrapped up dunk and block of the year on opening night

October 21, 2021

Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant has hops. Mentos in a Coke bottle on the moon hops. We already know this. It's not news. But sometimes we forget things. Human beings are fallible. Memory is fleeting. Thus on the opening night of a new NBA season in Memphis, Mr. Morant saw fit to remind us all of his natural-born gift.

This is exhibit A …

… and this even-more-impressive specimen is exhibit B.

There’s an old cliche about guys with trampoline springs for legs. They “live above the rim” it is said. On Wednesday night, Morant built a new three-car garage and broke ground on a pool at his Cloud City estate. In both of these highlights, at both ends of the floor, Morant’s head is at or above the orange cylinder, breathing the rarest, thinnest NBA air possible. If you think we’re being dramatic, consider this for a second:

We’re less than 48 hours into a new NBA season, and it’s quite possible that Morant has already delivered the dunk and block of the year. Not too shabby.

Morant’s two-way hops earned more than just a spot on the ol' Top 10 as well, helping the Grizzlies take down the Cleveland Cavaliers 132-121. Word on the street is that’s what truly matters.
