Drew Timme drops hard F-bomb in postgame interview, it might just be Gonzaga's year

    March 20, 2023

If you somehow made it all the way to late Sunday evening of March Madness opening weekend, you were treated to an epic tilt between Gonzaga and TCU, one that ended in gut-wrenching fashion for anyone who bet the higher-seeded Bulldogs -4.5.

The victory marked the eighth—yes, EIGHTH—consecutive time that the Zags punched their ticket to the Sweet 16. Contrary to popular belief, Drew Timme, the 22-year-old senior who looks more like a 42-year-old senior, has not appeared in all eight.

Timme, who went for 28 points and eight boards on Sunday night against the Horned Frogs, will play in his fourth Sweet 16 this Thursday against UCLA. The weight of possibly ending his school's incredible streak was heavy but he showed up and showed out, and it was a huge relief afterward for the mustachioed man. Have a listen to his A+, R-rated postgame interview, which happened to occur after another R-rated postgame interview on TruTV after FAU's win over FDU earlier in the night:

"Seven straight Sweet 16s," Timme says, "I'm like, we cannot be the team that f---s this one up."

Look, it was late, it was St. Patrick's Day weekend, everyone's brain had already melted before the Sunday scaries set in. If not for social media, no one would have batted an eye at this, and it still feels like no one did. Perhaps that's how Gonzaga can finally get over the hump - by flying under the radar, at least until the Final Four, should they make it there. This was the first year in a long time that they weren't the most popular pick to win it all, a designation that belongs to Houston and Alabama. But now they've crept their way back into the Sweet 16 where they'll face a banged up UCLA squad. It might just be the Zags' year.
