Bart Scott tells Josh Allen to take Viagra ahead of Saturday night’s game, which is apparently a thing NFL players used to do

January 13, 2022

If you were on Twitter between the hours of about 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Thursday, you would have very likely seen Bart Scott trending. You might have thought it was in relation to his famous “CAN’T WAIT!” tirade, which celebrates its 11th anniversary on Sunday, but it wasn’t. Instead Scott had gone viral for fresh, new #content, specifically advising Bills quarterback Josh Allen to pop some Viagra before Saturday’s frigid Wild Card tilt against the New England Patriots live on the Worldwide Leader.

If you’re wondering what it takes to see your name up in internet lights, this will do it just about every time. Scott wasn’t just being some typical macho alpha wolfpack weirdo, however. As the entire ESPN set fell into a collective stammer, Scott tried to explain himself. This was a legal, regular thing, he reassured everyone, that guys in the NFL used to do in order to, quite literally, get their blood pumping before a big game.

Ordinarily we’d say Scott was just trying dance his way out of a little ESPN sabbatical, but this isn’t the first time we’ve heard this. Back in 2020, famously unreliable narrator Chad Johnson tweeted something similar:

At the time, we chalked it up to Ocho being Ocho, but maybe there’s something to this. Johnson and Scott played in very much the same NFL epoch. Baseball had their steroid era, and maybe, just maybe, Johnson and Scott played in the NFL’s ED era. Where there’s smoke there’s usually fire, after all, and where there’s Viagra, well, there’s usually something else.
