PGA Tour pro gets luckiest lip-in and unluckiest lip-out you will ever see during the same round, can only laugh

Have you seen the episode of ‘Seinfeld’ where Jerry realizes that no matter what he does he always breaks even? When Elaine is down, George is up. When Elaine is up, George is down. He has a set canceled and lucks into another one right away. He even throws a $100 bill out the window and George finds it in the street and brings it right back up to his apartment. In this case Nick Hardy is Jerry Seinfeld, only, you know, in golf.

Early during Hardy’s opening round at the 3M Open on Thursday, he was the beneficiary of one of the luckiest lip-ins you will ever see. Check it out.

At this point, Hardy was up on the house, but as we all know, the house always wins (or at least breaks even). Thus it was no surprise to anyone, least of all Hardy, when he suffered the unluckiest lip-out you will ever see just a few holes later. Viewer discretion is advised.

As the great Sam Elliot once said, sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you. He didn’t elaborate on the timing of those occurrences, but we doubt he meant in the span of 18 holes. If you’re Hardy, however, all you can do is laugh. You win some, you lose some. Fate is a fickle mistress. The law of averages comes for us all eventually, on the golf course and off of it. So when lady luck finally looks at you from across the bar, as she did Hardy on Thursday, you better hope your accounts are settled.
