PGA Championship 2024: Shuttle bus crash reportedly snarls traffic outside Valhalla on Thursday morning
The 2024 PGA Championship is less than a few hours old, and golf fans are already angry. This year, though, their ire isn’t directed at the ludicrous beer prices or even the cringey "Halla" hats, but instead at the shuttle bus situation, which left many paying fans waiting in mile-long lines for a lift to Valhalla Golf Club on Thursday morning.
Tournament organizers weren’t entirely to blame for the transportation bottleneck, however. At 7:15 a.m. on Thursday morning, near the 1500 block of Shelbyville Road right outside of Valhalla Golf Club, a tournament shuttle was reportedly involved in an accident with an SUV, snarling traffic and further delaying transportation to the year’s second major.
No serious injuries were reported, but an ambulance was dispatched to the scene to check on the driver of the SUV. The wreck halted all westbound traffic while two tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles. A short time later, at approximately 7:50 a.m., local police responded to the scene of a second accident nearby. While that crash didn’t involve a tournament shuttle, it further contributed to the backup.
Wes hope everyone is OK and that the traffic for the remainder of the tournament isn’t as bad, but if you’re headed to Valhalla this week, make sure to drive safe and arrive early, especially if you’re looking to catch the morning tee times.
