PGA Championship 2024: Patrick Reed had a hilarious reaction after a fan asked him to sign his Rules of Golf book

Being able to laugh at yourself is a sign of humility and maturity. It’s possible these traits apply to Patrick Reed after watching the below video.

Reed has gotten a tonnnn of flak over the years from golf fans—way before he went to LIV—for a variety of questionable rules incidents. There was the two-stroke penalty at the Hero World Challenge for brushing sand from his ball. Then there was the embedded ball incident when he went onto win at Torrey Pines. The heckling was brutal at the 2019 Presidents Cup in Australia, which ended up with his caddie and brother-in-law Kessler Karain having a physical altercation with a fan and being suspended for the final day of the matches.

Well, it appears we’re now far enough removed from those incidents that Reed appears to be able to laugh at himself. As you can see in the below video, a fan at Valhalla Golf Club decided he’d ask Reed to sign his copy of the Rules of Golf. Reed had the perfect reaction:

A few years ago, the now-LIV golfer might’ve had this fan removed from the property or at least been confrontational about the whole thing. Kudos to him for laughing it off—signing the book—and giving the people a laugh. Maybe this is the start of the golf world turning back onto Reed’s side.
