Back-Porch Lemonade
What’s in it? Bourbon, sweet-and-sour mix, simple syrup, lemon wedge garnish (served in a high-ball or collins glass with cubed ice). When to order: Who says bourbon can’t be refreshing? This drink is perfect for a hot summer day and the lemony taste—be sure to squeeze the garnish in and stir—will have you searching for the nearest rocking chair for a power nap. Want another? Go for it. It’s potent, but not that potent.

Boulevardier
What’s in it? Bourbon, sweet vermouth, Campari (served “up” in a coupe glass after chilling and straining ice; or in a rocks glass with cubed ice). When to order: The sun has set, the house lights are dim and the grillroom has transitioned from thirsty golfers in shorts and golf shoes to hungry diners in khakis and dress shirts. It’s at these times, when you’re perusing the menu trying to decide between the swordfish and porterhouse (get both!), that you need a sophisticated cocktail. This is the one.
Bourbon Rickey
What’s in it? Bourbon, half a lime, club soda (served in a highball glass with crushed ice)When to order: While some golfers would balk at the idea of drinking bourbon during a round, the Bourbon Rickey is an awesome “order at the turn” kind of drink—especially if you’re tired of Transfusions or other clear Liquor drinks that are either too sweet or too boring. The Rickey is like a crisp, lemon-lime soda, and it won’t make you too woozy to thread the needle on a tight par 4 late in the round.

Gold Rush
What’s in it? Bourbon, lemon juice, honey (served in a coupe glass or a rocks glass with cubed ice). When to order: That wad of cash you just pocketed for draining a 15-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole has put you in the mood for whiskey, but you want something with a little more flair than just ordering “on the rocks.” The Gold Rush is simply a hot toddy served cold.
Kentucky Corpse Reviver
What’s in it? Bourbon, Curacao, lemon juice, Lillet Blanc, garnished with a mint sprig (served “up” in a coupe glass after chilling and straining ice)When to order: Face facts. Golf won the battle today. The only thing you have to show for your round are a couple of blisters and a twinge in your lower back. You need something to pep you up. This is the drink for those times. It’s so tasty, you might even head back out for an emergency nine.
Mint Julep
What’s in it? Bourbon, powdered sugar, splash of water, mint leaves (served in a rocks glass, or pewter cup, with cubed ice). When to order: Made hungry by a long winter indoors and the spectacle of the Masters, golfers flock back to their courses every April like migrating birds. When golf fever is in the air, this springtime classic cocktail helps remind you that great golf weather is coming, even if it’s still 38 degrees outside and misting.
Nor'easter
What’s in it? Bourbon, maple syrup, ginger beer, lime juice (served in a rocks glass with cubed ice). When to order: If you like a Dark ‘n’ Stormy, you’ll love this drink. It’s the right order if you’re just coming in from a blustery/rainy (snowy?) day on the course. One sip and this will bring you back from the brink of frostbite.
