“A special club tucked away just off Kiawah Island. It takes you 5 minutes to just drive the entrance driveway through the woods. Kudos to the club for its recent renovations. They have made the course much more playable and enjoyable. A good golf course with an amazing clubhouse and grounds."

“Well-conditioned course with good mix of length and direction to have the wind become another hazard. Reducing bunker coverage on the course makes substantially more playable for golfers. There are a number of lengthier forced carries that pose issues when predominant wind shifts on certain holes (9, 17, and 18). Some very strategic holes amongst the second nine that will reward well-placed tee shot, but provides some room for error for those taking more aggressive approach. Green complexes are very large, giving the greens lots of pin placements around ridges, spines and bunkers."

“Absolutely tranquil site. Set in SC lowcountry, the player feels secluded in nature with beautiful views of marshes, well sculpted and maintained trees/bushes are aesthetically pleasing. The greens roll true and are receptive. Surrounding the greens features bold contouring which allows a player to approach with a variety of shot types. There are several good risk/reward shots on approaches into par 5s, specifically number 18 which is a fair but well defended par 5 which can be approached from two completely different angles."

“Nothing that distinguishes this course which had redundant linear par 4's that went back and forth and looked like a driving range. Two par3's on the back nine very similar in design. Wile the last hole a par 5 was a R/R second shot, most players could not take advantage of that feature and instead tried to lay up in an are that fed balls to the same divot infested area for their third shot. Not a course that inspires.."

“Private Rees Jones design in the South Carolina low-country. Course plays in, around and over numerous marshy areas. Very welcoming staff and membership. You should definitely play here if invited."

“Briar's Creek is a highly exclusive Rees Jones design near Kiawah Island, SC. Featuring wonderful practice facilities, a laid back vibe, and an engaging championship layout, this is a very nice club and certainly worth a play if you get the chance. Holes 9 and 18 are among the most memorable, with carries over the marshes on both approaches."

“The front 9 was pretty boring with flat holes with not much character except for a couple. Green complexes were round and not very interesting. The last 3 holes are really good and distinct and interesting but not enough to make up for the other holes. Course is in excellent condition."

“This course has some really nice holes and some really frustrating design features. There are plenty of holes where a bad shot gets penalized without providing any reward for a good shot. There are some great views and beautiful landscaping, and the course is almost always in perfect shape. Clubhouse is fantastic - make sure you take a shower after your round!"
