Bum BaDum Bum Bum Bum Bum

Commanders fans debut Farmers Insurance-inspired chant (???), and it will make your ears bleed

February 02, 2022

Normally, the week in between Conference Championship week and Super Bowl week is a drag, one fans would like to fast forward through so we can get to the Big Game as soon as possible. However, based off the content the NFL has provided over the last 48 hours, we've now found ourselves hoping that this week never ends.

First, Tom Brady retired, putting an end to what is arguably the greatest career in NFL history. Then, former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores sued the league and three of its teams, alleging racism in hiring practices. On Wednesday, the content machine showed no signs of slowing down, with the team formerly known as the Washington Football Team announcing its new name - the Commanders.

New name, new marks, and new uniforms, too. Sure, the only redeeming quality this organization had left was their classic color scheme and uniforms, but Dan Snyder has never missed an opportunity to make everything worse:

These stink, plain and simple. And so does the name. Nevertheless, some fans/masochists are all in anyway, so much so that a group of them showed up to FedEx Field to begin testing out some new chants for Commanders games in 2022. ABC7News D.C. reporter Kristen Powers was on hand to see and hear what some of those chants were, and one in particular is beginning to go viral on Twitter, which usually means one of two things: 1. It's catchy and people are gassing it up with quote tweets, or 2. It will make you want to rip your ears off your head so that you never have to hear such utter garbage again.

This Farmers Insurance-inspired Commanders chant (????) falls firmly in Camp No. 2:

In fairness, the first time they tried it makes it look much, much worse because of how delayed the "Bum BaDum Bum Bum Bum Bum" was. Actually, it's still that bad, even the second time, which was more well-choreographed. I mean, they are literally just doing the Farmers Insurance jingle. What in the absolute f--- is that?!?!?

They tried another one, too, and it was also a stolen idea from "Remember the Titans." Woof:

Look, these people all appear to be fine people, and their loyalty to this trash franchise should be commended. But these chants are flat-out horrific. May need to go back to the recording studio, or to just scrap them entirely. Not everybody needs a chant.
