Watch the crazy walk-off hole-out from 168 yards that gave this U.S. Amateur finalist his first college title

September 20, 2021

Austin Greaser hit the shot of his life on Sunday, and luckily, the cameras were rolling. Well, one camera, at least.

The UNC junior holed a walk-off birdie from 168 yards on the final hole to capture his first collegiate title at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational and lead the Tar Heels to a second consecutive win to start the season. Have a look—albeit a far away look—at how it went down:

Pretty darn clutch. And a hole-in-one to boot! Not that a strong finish is too surprising coming from a guy who finished runner-up at the U.S. Amateur last month.

Here's Greaser's Instagram post following the win:

Notice how he doesn't even mention the ace or the crazy finish to the three-day tournament. What a humble young man!

"Austin has played tremendous golf for a long time now," UNC coach Andrew DiBitetto told the school's website. "All of us are excited for him to get his first collegiate win and to do so in such dramatic fashion by holing out on 18 and to do it on a golf course where he plans on competing in major championships in the future."

While we'll have to wait and see if he qualifies for any future majors at Olympia Fields, Greaser will tee it up at both the 2022 Masters and U.S. Open next year thanks to his U.S. Amateur run. And after seeing what happened on Sunday, there's a good chance he's not done winning before then.
