Tony Romo mounts big Sunday comeback to win Invited Celebrity Classic celebrity division

Did you know it was Tony Romo’s birthday this weekend? The former Cowboys quarterback turned 43 on Friday, and he gave himself the biggest gift of all, mounting a big Sunday comeback to win the Celebrity Division of the PGA Tour Champions' Invited Celebrity Classic.

Romo began the final round six points back of fellow professional-athlete-turned-amateur-golfer Mardy Fish, but rallied to win by five (the event uses Modified Stableford scoring). Romo started the day with a birdie—the equivalent of a touchdown drive to open the fourth quarter—which he credited with jumpstarting his comeback. Cowboys fans will no doubt wonder where that clutch gene was in the playoffs all those years, as Romo outdueled Fish, Annika Sorenstam and former All-Star pitcher Mark Mulder to one of the biggest titles of his golfing career.

Next up for no. 8, who told The Dallas Morning News that his game is in a good place and his twice-surgically-repaired back is holding up well, is a USGA local qualifier on May 3rd at Odessa Country Club.
