This hilarious Thursday Night Football "promo" is the best thing about Thursday Night Football this week

September 14, 2017

Thursday Night Football has gotten a bad rep in recent years, and, well, rightfully so. The NFL's season-opening game notwithstanding, the mid-week matchups are usually terrible teams that often seem to play even worse than usual thanks to being on limited rest. And this Thursday's tilt between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Houston Texans promises more of the same.

Both the Bengals and Texans are coming off putrid opening games that featured especially bad play at the quarterback position. Cincinnati's Andy Dalton threw for just 170 yards, zero touchdowns and four interceptions in a loss to Tampa Bay, while Tom Savage threw for only 62 yards in the first half before being replaced (rookie Deshaun Watson didn't fare much better) in a worse loss to the lowly Jaguars.

But there is something good about this meeting of two teams (other than getting to cheer on J.J. Watt, of course) who needed just one week to prove they aren't going anywhere this season: A fake Thursday Night Football promo. Thanks to The Ringer for creating this hilarious spoof:

Well done with both the writing and the singing! The jabs at the two "mediocre at best" teams are fantastic, but so is the random "AMERICA YEAH." Let's hope this becomes a weekly thing.
