Alright, Alright, Alright

The Matthew McConaughey-narrated hype video for Texas-Alabama will be the Longhorns’ only W of the weekend

September 09, 2022

On Saturday, Texas and Alabama are set to pre-heat their SEC rivalry as the Crimson Tide head to Austin for a showdown with the Longhorns. With the Big Noon Kickoff crew in town and temperatures expected to rise into the triple-digits, it’s poised to be a hot one, literally and figuratively. But don’t take our word for it. Just ask Matthew “Alright, Alright, Alright” McConaughey, who narrated the first great CFB hype video of 2022 on Friday …

If that doesn’t immediately clear your Saturday afternoon calendar, nothing will. When McConaughey croons, “No sir, no ma’am, you cannot have a stampede without the herd,” we just about fainted ... or was that just the heatstroke?

Unfortunately for the Longhorns, this will likely be their only W of the weekend. There ain’t a kitchen too hot for Nick Saban, who was clued in to Texas’ secret weapon—the 15-yard “horns down” penalty—by a reporter this week. That was the Longhorns’ only realistic chance of taking down the top-ranked Tide this weekend. Without it, this video, like the Texas teams of the past decade, will remain hype and hype alone. But, hey take the wins where you can get ‘em, Texas fans. It doesn’t get any easier from here.
