    Save for later

Scottie Scheffler can already start making travel plans to be in New York for the Ryder Cup this fall.

OK, so the World No. 1 was always going to be an important part of the U.S. team, but now it's official that he'll be wearing the red, white and blue at Bethpage Black. Yep, it's official. Already.

The biennial event announced on Wednesday that Scheffler clinched one of six automatic spots on the team. A dominant four-tournament stretch in which he won three PGA Tour titles—including the PGA Championship and the Memorial—by a combined 17 shots put him over the top.

“Scottie continues to prove why he is the No. 1 player in the world, showcasing incredible consistency and dominance week to week,” U.S. captain Keegan Bradley said in a statement. “He is the ultimate team player and I have no doubt that he will be ready and motivated come September. I could not be more excited to have him as a member of the U.S. team.”

Scheffler has already racked up 25,918.25 points during the two-year window, which is more than the next two players, Xander Schauffele and Bryson DeChambeau, have combined.

The top six points earners following the conclusion of the BMW Championship on August 17 will be at Bethpage Black. Bradley will then make six captain's picks to round out the squad. Currently, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa and Russell Henley hold the 4-6 spots with surging Ben Griffin at No. 7.

This will mark Scheffler's third consecutive Ryder Cup appearance. When he made his debut in 2021 at Whistling Straits, he had yet to win on the PGA Tour. Now? He's a 16-time winner with three major championships, plus an Olympic gold medal.

“Representing the United States at the Ryder Cup has been one of the greatest honors of my career, and I look forward to doing so for a third time this September,” Scheffler said. “I will do whatever it takes to help our team reclaim the Cup and cannot wait to play in front of the passionate New York spectators at Bethpage Black.”
