PGA Championship 2025: Max Homa comes incredibly close to making first par-4 hole-in-one in major championship history

Save for later

Max Homa had Golf Twitter abuzz on Friday morning. And for once, it had nothing to do with anything he tweeted.

The six-time PGA Tour winner got off to a red-hot start to his second round at the PGA Championship. And that included coming incredibly close to making some major championship history.

Starting on Quail Hollow's back nine, Homa had already birdied two of his first four holes when he stepped to the tee on the drivable par-4 14th. And then he did this. Prepare to have your jaw drop.

A driver from 347 yards to one foot. Over the trees. With the water just left of where he hit it. Unreal. This look from behind is even more insane:

There's only been one par-4 ace in PGA Tour history. And that was a bit of a fluke as Andrew Magee banked his golf ball off another player's putter and into the hole on TPC Scottdale's 17th at the 2001 Phoenix Open.

Anyway, Homa was certainly happy with a tap-in eagle as he moved to four under through five holes. Especially because he's been struggling with his game over the past year.

But he's certainly not struggling today. And we're pretty darn certain no one will hit a more spectacular shot this week year.
