Aon Risk Reward Challenge enters sixth year on LPGA Tour
Editor's Note: This article is written in partnership with Aon.

Returning for its sixth year, the Aon Risk Reward Challenge showcases the LPGA Tour's top talent in this unique, season-long competition. As the players navigate some of the tour’s most strategically challenging holes, the Challenge aims to highlight the top decision makers of the season as they work through their optimal risk-reward approach. Players will use their two lowest scores from each Aon Risk Reward Challenge hole throughout the year, and at the end of the regular season, the player with the best average will be crowned champion at the 2025 CME Group Tour Championship, taking home the Aon trophy and a $1 million prize.
It’s evident from the Challenge’s first five years that capitalizing on every opportunity to make stellar timely decisions demands clarity and confidence. Let’s take a look back at the players who have mastered this over the years.
Past Champion Look Back
2024 Champion: Jeeno Thitikul
Last year, the best decision-maker was Jeeno Thitikul who throughout the season demonstrated elite decision-making with an impressive +0.39 strokes gained on every Challenge hole played and a 35 percent go-for-green success rate (2nd on the LPGA Tour in 2024).
2023 Champion: Angel Yin
In 2023, Challenge champ Angel Yin combined fantastic ball-striking and an incredible short game. She went for the green on 46 percent of the Challenge holes, reaching it 24 percent of the time and helping her secure a top-15 spot in strokes gained around the green on those holes.
2022 Champion: Minjee Lee
Three years ago, Minjee Lee captured the Challenge, thanks to her strong driving performance that positioned her to go for the green 58 percent of the time versus the tour average of 32 percent. Her approach shots on Challenge holes landed 16 feet closer than opponents on average, helping her finish second in strokes gained overall.
2021 Champion: Hannah Green
In 2021, Hannah Green birdied 72 percent and eagled nearly 10 percent of the Challenge holes. On the par 5s, her go-for-green success rate was 68 percent, compared to the field average of 46 percent. She never scored worse than par on Challenge holes.
2019 Champion: Carlota Ciganda
In the Challenge’s inaugural 2019 season, Carlota Ciganda contended all year long, but she catapulted up the leaderboard with eagle-birdie scores on Challenge holes in consecutive weeks late in the year to secure the title.
