PGA Championship 2025: ESPN's Friday coverage abruptly starts after crazy Stephen A. Smith Knicks rant

For the hardcore golf fan, there's nothing like a major championship week. From the early morning extra coverage (well, after you figure out how to stream it) to the "Live From" wraps on Golf Channel, these are long days of being locked in watching golf. You really have to pace yourself.
Of course, there's always other stuff going on in the sports world. In this case, the NBA and NHL Playoffs are also taking center stage. So as ESPN's "First Take" wrapped up ahead of second-round coverage of the PGA Championship, it's no surprise Stephen A. Smith was talking hoops.
Especially with the bombastic analyst's New York Knicks facing a huge Game 6 against the Boston Celtics on Friday night. And as the show wrapped up, Smith was in the middle of a particuarly fiery rant about how his Knicks have to "GO OUT THERE AND TAKE, CLAIM WHAT IS YOURS!"
As a fellow Knicks fan, I loved hearing it. And Stephen A is right, they better win tonight. But it also created quite a transition as he left essentially no time for the host to wrap up and the cameras then abruptly switched to showing Scottie Scheffler showing up to Quail Hollow for his second-round tee time. Have a look and listen:
Good stuff. HOWEVAH, that pep talk could actually apply to the World No. 1 when you look at the lack of stars on the leaderboard at Quail Hollow thus far. Just saying.
