True love comes in all shapes, sizes, colors, and creeds, and we here at The Loop are down for them all. But never before have we seen a relationship as tenacious and intense and downright hilarious as that of Sara and Red Sox pitcher Robert Stock, a fringe major leaguer claimed off waivers by the Sox on July 26th. Since then, Stock has been optioned down and brought back up again, but on Tuesday he took the mound for what would become arguably the most defining moment of his life. And no, we’re not talking about baseball. If Mrs. Stock is to be believed, their very relationship hung in the balance.

Ooof. Tough crowd. Not only did Robert have rando Twitter eggs saying he looked like he'd been spit out the bottom of matrimony out there, his own wife also got in on the act, threatening to serve divorce papers if he couldn't stop the lead off walks and kept leaving his slider hanging (OK, we made that last one up, but it’s gotta be grounds for a trial separation at least.) If this weren’t so damn funny, we’d be taking Mr. Stock out for a beer right about now.

Thankfully, however, it is that funny and intentionally so. In fact, it’s safe to say that Sara is now the leader in the WAG Cy Young race with less than a month to play. If you have any doubts about that, just check out this tweet from back in 2018, when Stock was first called up to majors with the Padres.

Better start putting the ball over the plate, Rob. You don't want to let one like that get away.
