Miggy Gonna Miggy

Dodgers broadcast tells incredible Miguel Cabrera home run story as Miguel Cabrera hits incredible home run

There are some guys in baseball who transcend tribes. It doesn’t matter who they play for, when they step to the plate (or on the bump), they command respect from opposing fans, media, and players alike. Miguel Cabrera is one of those guys. Now entering his 20th MLB season—15 of them with the Detroit Tigers—Miggy has ascended to living-legend status. On Sunday he amplified that legend in the most Miggy way imaginable:

By capping this awesome story about a Miggy home run of yesteryear with a Miggy home run of today. Sound up and enjoy.

It’s no “and there’s a deep drive to left" but it’s in the wheelhouse. It’s almost like Cabrera had SportsNet LA in his ear. No sooner does Dodgers play-by-play announcer Joe Davis wrap up his story about Miggy bleeding in then-rookie catcher James McCann by hitting one out, and Miggy turns around and hits one out. You literally can’t script it, which is the kind of thing you say about moments that are so incredible they feel scripted.

Making matters even more surreal, the home run was the first in 66 plate appearances this season for Miggy. Needless to say, he sure picked a hell of a time to hit it.
