It's probably not a stretch to say that Thursday was the craziest day in golf history. I mean, there was a LOT going on from LIV Golf's (shotgun) start, the PGA Tour suspending 17 players in response, and fans risking their lives to watch the Canadian Open while being suspended from a giant crane. But the craziest thing may have happened on the Korn Ferry Tour.
We've seen plenty of golfers take off clothes to hit shots from the water through the years. Heck, Henrik Stenson still might be more famous for hitting one in his skivvies than for hoisting the claret jug. But we're not sure we've ever quite seen what Josh Teater did.
The former PGA Tour pro wound up actually going for a swim in a lake during the first round of the BMW Charity Pro-Am. And lucky for us, there's video of it! Here it is, courtesy of fellow former tour pro Kyle Thompson:
That's pretty wild. Love the caddie standing there ready with the towel. Although, there's only so much to do when you've taken a dip and still have more holes to play.
So what the heck happened? Why was Teater doing a mean Michael Phelps impression on Thursday? He explained on Friday:
OK, so we're still confused. But somehow, his shoe got knocked into the water and Teater dove in to save it. Again, what a wild scene.
Unfortunately, there wasn't much else to remember from a round in which Teater made three double bogeys and shot 75. But you can't knock him for his effort. And at least he got some good cardio in as well.
