U.S. Open 2025: Drip king Jason Day goes viral for stars n’ stripes shorts at Oakmont

June 10, 2025
Save for later

Since becoming Malbon's first PGA Tour ambassador in 2024, Jason Day has transformed from a mild-mannered Nike bot to a high-fashion fit god before our every eyes. At seemingly major since Day’s collaboration with the golf apparel trendsetter, the Aussie has debuted at least one Internet-breaking fit, from the sweater vest too bold for Augusta National to the rain suit too impenetrable for Royal Troon. That trend shows no sign of slowing down this week at Oakmont, where Day got the fireworks started on Tuesday with a pair of shorts truly fit for the U.S. Open. Check ‘em out.

OH SAY DOES THAT STAR-SPANGLED BANNER YET WAAAAVE … sorry, sorry. We got a little carried away there. Then again, so did Golf Twitter, which stood up and saluted Day’s patriotic trunks as he made his way around the Oakmont practice facilities on Tuesday.

We have to hand it to Day and Malbon (and John Daly, who clearly served as this muse for this look); they seem to have struck a chord with fans of America’s Major. How will the rest of the week’s scripting measure up to these beauties? That remains to be seen, but if Day and Malbon have taught us anything over the past 18 months, it’s to expect the unexpected.
