A day later, Jordan Spieth can laugh at the miss heard ’round the golf world. As it turns out, the 18-inch par putt he lipped out to finish play on Saturday didn't cost him his 13th PGA Tour title come Sunday.

With a closing 66 at Harbour Town Golf Links, the 28-year-old made his way into a playoff at the RBC Heritage. From there, a impressive up-and-down par from a bunker on the first extra hole gave Spieth the victory over Patrick Cantlay.

Spieth made two eagles in his first five holes Sunday, then spent the rest of the afternoon scrambling around Harbour Town, scratching out pars, shrugging off a pair of bogeys, then making a 10-foot birdie putt on the home hole to put him the clubhouse at 13 under par and forcing the chasers to see if they could match the number.

Ultimately, only Cantlay could, shooting a three-under 68. The U.S. Ryder Cup teammates each found the fairway off the tee when replaying the 18th hole, but each hit their approach shots in the front greenside bunker. It turned out Cantlay's ball was plugged, so when Spieth blasted his sand shot to tap-in range for par, Cantlay knew his work was cut out for him. He could only get his ball 30 feet past the hole, then missed the par effort left.

When Spieth pulled it out, it meant the nightmare on the 18th hole the previous day wasn't the deciding stroke after all.

With the win, Spieth grabbed the first-place prize money payout of $1.44 million from an overall purse of $8 million. Here is the prize money payout for each golfer making the cut this week on Hilton Head Island. Come back shortly after the tournament and we’ll update with individual names and payouts.
