Here's the prize money payout for each golfer at the 2020 Vivint Houston Open
Carlos Ortiz became the third Mexican to win a PGA Tour event with a Sunday 65 at the Vivint Houston Open.

Sunday’s final round of the Vivint Houston Open had a David vs. Goliath vs. Goliath feel to it.
Carlos Ortiz, ranked 160th in the world, had never won on the PGA Tour. In 117 career starts, the 29-year-old from Mexico had seven top-10 finishes and earned $4 million.
Conversely, Dustin Johnson, ranked first in the world, had won 23 times on the PGA Tour. In 275 career starts, the 36-year-old from South Carolina had 104 top-10s and earned a little more than $68 million. And Hideki Matsuyama, ranked 20th in the world, had won five times on the PGA Tour. In 174 career starts, the 28-year-old from Japan had 46 top 10s and earned $29.8 million.
Yet it was Ortiz who prevailed, shooting a closing five-under 65 at Memorial Park to hold off Johnson and Matsuyama by two shots and become the third Mexican to win on tour.
Ordinarily, a win in the final event before the Masters secures the champion a spot in the field at Augusta National. Ortiz will get to enjoy that spoil, and become the second member of his family to compete in the tournament, joining younger brother Alvaro, who played in 2019 after winning the Latin America Amateur. But Carlos’ invitation will be for 2021 tournament.
Ortiz is OK waiting. There’s plenty of other perks coming with his maiden victory. Among them: the $1.26 million prize money payout for the victory. Ortiz’s biggest pay day previously on tour was $544,800 for a T-2 finish at the Mayakoba Golf Classic in 2019.
The overall prize money payout in Houston was $7 million. Here’s the breakdown of how much each golfer who made the cut will earn this week. Check back shortly and we’ll update the list with player names and specific amounts they’ve earned this week.
