This photo of Collin Morikawa's high school yearbook quote is going viral for a hilarious reason
Based off of everything we've seen, heard and are still learning about Collin Morikawa, it's clear that this is a 26-year-old who is wise beyond his years. Never forget, this is a guy who, after winning his first major at the 2020 PGA Championship, gave all the credit to his then girlfriend and now wife Katherine Zhu. He's no dummy.
So it should come as no surprise that, even back in high school, you could tell Morikawa was headed for big things. Look no further than his high school yearbook quote, which came from the mind of the great Jack Nicklaus. "Success depends almost entirely on how effectively you learn to manage the game's two ultimate adversaries: the course and yourself."
We'd say Morikawa has done a fine job of that so far in his career, having just picked up his sixth PGA Tour victory at the Zozo Championship. As a bit of Monday motivation, the PGA Tour figured they'd call back Collin's amazing yearbook quote, posting a picture of the baby-faced Morikawa with the accompanying line from Nicklaus. Naturally, the photo is going viral because of the yearbook quote next to his from Todd Murray. Well, actually, from White Goodman in the movie "Dodgeball":
Well done, Todd, well done. That's how it goes on the internet, folks. Had this just been a photo of Morikawa and the Nicklaus quote, it would do maybe a third of the engagement. Thanks to Todd, however, it's blowing up. Hey, people take their Monday motivation however they can get it, be it from a 18-time major champion or from the founder of Globo Gym.
Todd may not have shot 63 on Sunday to win a cool $1.5 million, but at least he'll be the talk of the office on Monday morning. In this life, wins come in many different forms.
