Canadian Open makes a small, but brilliant tweak to its logo—other PGA Tour events should follow

It was a moment Canadian golf fans had been waiting to see for more than seven decades. But now they'll be reminded of it a lot more after one small, but brilliant marketing tweak.

The RBC Canadian Open revealed a fun change to its logo on Friday, swapping out a boring old golfer taking a swing with Nick Taylor's epic putter drop from last year's event. Have a look:

Well played. That is absolutely perfect. No notes.

Taylor became an instant national hero in June when he drained a 72-foot eagle putt on the fourth playoff hole to become the first Canadian to win the tournament in 69 years. The putt—and the incredible celebration it set in motion at Oakdale Golf & Country Club—made for arguably the most exciting finish on the PGA Tour in 2023.

As many pointed out, going with a silhouette of fellow Canadian Adam Hadwin getting tackled by a security guard in the madness on the 18th green would have been pretty fun also. But obviously Taylor deserves this treatment for winning the trophy and providing such a memorable reaction.

We can only hope that this remains the logo for good. And that other PGA Tour events follow suit!

Imagine a big Tiger fist pump taking the place of the "I" in Farmers Insurance Open? Or, heck, a Tiger fist pump taking the place of the golfer on the PGA Tour's logo? Oooo, maybe it's his famous hat toss at Bay Hill in 2008 replacing the "A" in PGA? Talk about fun!

Anyway, we can dream about big change, but in the meantime, kudos to the Canadian Open for actually making this happen. And congrats to Nick Taylor, who, like Jerry West, can now ask people to refer to him as "The Logo."
