Bubba Watson pokes fun at himself while announcing new style deal with Linksoul
Watson will wear Linksoul apparel on the course and has invested in the California-based company
In the world of brand announcements, we applaud players (and companies) for getting creative with their new deals. That’s what Bubba Watson did on Tuesday, announcing that he’s a new ambassador for the lifestyle apparel brand Linksoul (he’ll unveil his new look when he makes his season debut this week at Torrey Pines).

Watson posted a hilarious throwback post on Instagram to celebrate the new partnership with side-by-side images of how he dressed as an amateur golfer compared to now. We won’t knock his vintage red plus-four golf pants or the ultra-patriotic look, but his 2021 all-black hoodie look seems a bit more on-trend and comfortable for the now-42-year-old golfer. Watson wore apparel from Oakley previously.
The casual golf apparel brand co-founded by John Ashworth is known for making versatile and comfortable clothing, in addition to its charitable initiatives. Linksoul’s most recent endeavor raised over $160,000 for the COVID-19 Direct Relief Fund. Based in Southern California, the brand was also influential in a campaign to save a local municipal golf course, Goat Hill Park, from shutting down. The course has since become a symbol of accessible golf and an access point for youth golfers to learn the game.
“I’ve been paying close attention to what John and Linksoul have been doing over the years and I felt like this was the right time to get more involved with the brand,” said Watson. “I love that their mission extends beyond golf and represents a lifestyle beyond the course.”
