Roll Damn Tide

In a hilarious twist, the tight end Brian Kelly did that unbelievably awkward Tik Tok dance with has committed to Alabama

February 02, 2022

In the modern social media world, you have to be hyper-aware of getting duped by fake accounts telling fake stories for fake attention. Any time something seems too good to be true, it almost always is.

Fortunately for us, this is not one of those times. Remember those unbelievably awkward Tik Tok dance videos new LSU head coach Brian Kelly was doing with recruits? Of course you do. They cannot be unseen. Here's Kelly's most recent jig with three-star tight end Danny Lewis, who decommitted from Cincinnati on January 12 and immediately drew interest from LSU, Alabama and Florida:

"Cringe" would be underselling it. HOWEVER, what Kelly is doing seems to be working. These videos explode every single time (the one above has 8.5 million views). No publicity is bad publicity, as they say. If even one of these videos lands a highly-sought-after recruit, then getting clowned on the internet is well worth it for Kelly.

Unfortunately for Kelly, that's not what happened here. Lewis, who is from the state of Louisiana and happily donned the purple and gold for this Tik Tok, committed to Alabama on Wednesday. Pain.

Just an absolutely hilarious twist of events, unless, of course, you are a LSU fan. If that's the case, it's hard to think up a bigger metaphorical knife to the gut than your new coach doing his best "how do you do, fellow kids?" routine only for him to lose a prized recruit to Nick Saban and the rival Crimson Tide. Kings stay kings, I guess. Also, kings dance in the recruit's living room when it comes time to seal the deal, not in some phony Tik Tok studio the school probably wasted a boatload of money on:

8 million views or 7 National Championships? Priorities, Brian, priorities.
