Good Cop, Bad Cop
Vijay Singh and Boo Weekley combine for funny albatross at Pebble Beach, are the buddy-cop duo you didn’t know you needed
Although golf's great all-seeing eye is trained squarely on southern Europe for the next 10 days, this weekend the old dogs will tee it up at one of the sport’s most legendary venues in Pebble Beach. We’re certainly not suggesting you skip the Solheim Cup or Ryder Cup just to check out the PURE Insurance Championship, but the California sun is shining and the vets are already delivering the fireworks.
Just ask fan-favorite Boo Weekley, who drained an unlikely albatross on Pebble Beach’s 6th hole during a practice round on Tuesday. Even better was the fact that he did it while playing with Vijay Singh, who allegedly called Boo’s two in the air. Check it out.
Talk about a quirky combo, but it’s amazing to see the Fiji terminator and the Florida funny man developing such a comfortable repartee. It’s good-cop, bad-cop. It’s Jerry and Kramer. It’s absolutely glorious.
Needless to say, we hope to see more of these two in the future. The Champions Tour needs to lean into its biggest personalities at every opportunity, and Singh and Weekley—despite seeming like oil and water—are two of wildest characters golf has ever seen. Just pair them together every week and watch the sparks fly.
