    Save for later

It’s been four years since Anna Nordqvist last won on the LPGA Tour, long enough for the 34-year-old Swede to wonder if she might ever be a champion again. But with a final-round 69 on Sunday at Carnoustie Golf Links, not only did she claim a ninth career LPGA title but a third major victory.

“I've been waiting for this win for a while,” said Nordqvist, who points to a bout with mono in 2017 as something it’s taken her several years to fully recover from. “There have been a lot of downs and hard times so this makes it feel even sweeter. I could only dream of winning the AIG Women’s Open.”

Likely unbeknownst to Nordqvist, the victory also allowed her to achieved a notable career milestone. By earning the record $870,000 first-place prize money payout, Nordqvist saw her LPGA career earnings pass $10 million—$10,774,819 to be specific.

Nordqvist became the 20th player in LPGA history to break the $10 million mark, accomplishing the feat in her 288th career LPGA start. Impressively she’s competed in 63 major championships during her career.

She jumped into 17th position on the all-time LPGA money list.

Coincidentally, Nordqvist wasn’t the only player to break $10 million in career earnings on Sunday. With her T-10 finish, Ariya Jutanugarn earned $113,636, which ups her career earnings to $10,066,257. The 25-year-old from Thailand broke the eight-figure barrier in her 193rd career LPGA start. She jumped to No. 21 on the all-time money list.
