- Setting: A golf hole or a short-game area with a pin favoring one side of a green.
- Materials: At least one golf ball, a wedge, and a putter.

- Identify the area off the edge of the green that is closest to the flagstick—also known as the short-sided position.
- Without trying to create favorable lies, drop balls in varying spots off the green.
- You can complete this test by either dropping 10 balls or by just using one ball.
- From each lie, the goal is to get as many up-and-downs as possible from the short-sided spot, including putting.
- Play each ball until it is holed before moving onto the next chip.
- To keep a reference point for scoring, "par" for each ball is two strokes. Keep track of how many "over par" you are.

- Beginner/high-handicap: 15 or more strokes over par
- Mid-handicap: 9-14 strokes over par
